We are committed to encourage the growth, development and investment of businesses and in the past year has seen a variety of successful initiatives to do just that
New business openings
Throughout this year the BID has continued to support new businesses openings which include New Look, Dunkin Donuts, Loaded Burgers, Nandos, Deichmann and Russells Cafe. Vacancy rates in the town centre (10%) are currently below the national average (11.8%).
Vacancy listing
The BID continues to offer a free service to letting agents and landlords which promote their vacant unit. The BID provides floorplans, a matterport tour and photographs for the agent to use. The enhanced listing is also promoted through the BIDs very own town centre vacancy listing website: rtcpropertysearch.com.
Town Centre Food and Drink Strategy
Working with the Evening Economy Board, the BID will facilitate a Town Centre Food and Drink Strategy which will build of the towns growing and exciting food and drink offer.
Loyal Free
To support town centre businesses we have continued our partnership with Loyal Free. This free to download app provides free advertising for local businesses to promote their offers and events, with the option to run a ‘loyalty stamp’ scheme, feature in local shopping trails and sell products or vouchers online through a no-commission marketplace.
Recruitment event
To support businesses, the BID facilitated a pop-up recruitment event at Rochdale Riverside. The event saw 100s people taking the opportunity to find a new role or to seek careers advise.
Town Centre Vison
The BID will continue to work with the Rochdale Development Agency to create a bold new Town Centre Vision. The BID will lobby for the vison to be centre around the need to create a community hub designed around health, education, culture, housing, leisure, arts and crafts, along with retail.
Rochdale 360
We will continue to develop Rochdale 360 to provide virtual tours which showcase town centre businesses. In total Rochdale town centre businesses have benefited from over 2 million virtual tours.
Industry partners
We will continue to work closely with industry partners including The BID Foundation, Institute of Place Management and ATCM.
Indy businesses
Rochdale is a town where independents thrive. We will continue to encourage independent businesses to put the town centre at the top of their list of ideal locations.
